About

I’m an artist based in Wexford, Ireland, working primarily in oil, gouache and ink.

I’m drawn to the landscape and ordinary life around me. The coast, fields, trees and changing weather of Wexford, as well as simple objects and quiet moments closer to home.

In painting, I’m interested in the space between observation and abstraction. I want a painting to feel recognisable without explaining everything. Increasingly, I work directly from life, where changing light and limited time force me to make decisions quickly.

My current project, Wexford 100, is a series of 100 small oil paintings made from life in my beloved Wexford, Ireland. Each painting is both a record of a particular moment and part of a larger exploration of how much can be said with a few shapes, colours and brushstrokes.

In addition to this I am working on a series called Studio Mornings. These paintings are explorations of everyday objects I observe deeply.

Drawing remains an important part of my practice. My ink work is slower and more deliberate, built from line, texture and value. Although ink and oil require very different ways of working, both come from the same interest: finding structure in what excites me and leave enough room for the unspoken.

I’m less interested in making a perfect record of a place or object than in capturing what made me stop and look.
