About
My name is Rina. I paint Irish landscapes in gouache and ink.
Not the postcard version. The version with grief in it. Old stone, stripped trees, fields that remember something you cannot name. I make work for people who carry Ireland with them at a distance and feel it in a particular kind of weather or light.
I work traditionally. Gouache for colour and atmosphere, ink for structure and commitment. The two sit well together — one builds, the other holds. I am currently deepening my practice through formal study, which is changing the way I see and the way I paint.
Alongside the finished work I keep sketchbooks. They are where I study other artists, work out problems, write, and find out what I actually think. Not performance. Just the necessary mess that finished work comes from. I share these on Instagram and TikTok as @rinas.sketchbook.
This is a long project. I am building a body of work one piece at a time, rooted in the landscape of South East Ireland. Subscribe to stay updated.
